MFC launches “MFC Website’s Activities Award” as part of its goal to return profits to society. The Award will serve as a forum for to promote saving and investment through mutual funds and development of IT skills for young people. Students are invited to submit website designs for e-trading to MFC from now until 14 October 2005.
MFC Asset Management Plc. President Dr. Pichit Akrathit said to mark MFC’s 30th anniversary in 2005, the Website’s Activities Award was the company’s another social contribution project following the success of “MFC Talent Award”. The aim of the second Award is to stimulate young people’s interest in financial planning, saving and investment management. When they realize the value of saving and financial planning, they can help disseminate the knowledge to family members and the general public, thereby helping to develop quality investors.
Students attending M. 4-6 and universities nationwide have been invited to participate in the contest to design a website to promote savings and investment, and investing in MFC’s mutual funds as well as to apply investment technology to develop a website for e-trading that can operate commercially and efficiently.
MFC has organized roadshows in Chiengmai, Khonkaen, Haad Yai, and Bangkok. Applications will be screened to select 60 eligible candidates or 20 teams. The project will begin in November this year. Next, the candidates will be given a training on fundamentals of asset management and information technology for mutual fund trading before the second-round submission of website designs. Votes in the second round will be given by the sub-committee and the public in order to encourage public participation in the project. During three months, the public are invited to register their votes on MFC’s website to select a team who receives the highest popular vote in each month. All the votes received will be counted as a part of final selection of the winners. The results will be announced in February 2006.
The winning teams of university level will receive a plaque from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn whereas senior high school level will received a plaque from the Minister of Education. Both teams will be also awarded Baht125,000 each with taht 100,000 for their institutions. The second and third runner up teams will receive Baht90,000 and Baht45,000 each.
