Gaysorn today issued a series of announcements about their current success and spoke about their plans to share the success by organizing a large-scale charity event in aid of UNICEF.
In the first nine months of 2005 customer numbers increased by 11% year on year when compared with the same period 2004. More than 3.89 million visitors came to Gaysorn during Jan — Sep 2005 despite economic setbacks of the tsunami and oil prices*. The continuing improvement in customer traffic can be attributed to the continuing development and growing reputation of In Gaysorn, a series of successful marketing campaigns and the refinements of the Ratchaprasong district.
Figures from Gaysorn’s tenants sharing sales data indicate that the general trend for sales in the first 6 months of 2005 increased by 7.5% year on year**. Sales reported for The End of Season Spectacular Sale held in late June were particularly impressive, outperforming June 2004 with an increase in sales of 13% year on year, which made up for reductions in Japanese and Asian tourists during early 2005.
Figures from January — September 2005 indicate that this year will continue Gaysorn’s success story, delivering superior style and quality, uniqueness, comfort plus a feel good factor for luxury shoppers. The strategy to maintain Gaysorn’s position as Bangkok’s premium luxury centre has 3 clear directions; ensuring the best tenant mix, ongoing property improvements and maintaining outstanding customer service through marketing.
Dedicated to luxury, Gaysorn will welcome four new tenants in Q4 2005, of which three will be totally exclusive to the retail centre. The new tenants are: Davidoff — a maker of fine cigars and accessories; Thomas Pink — the world-famous shirt maker from London; Olivia Jewelry — specialising in fashionable Thai jewellery and Times End - chic and stylish Thai fashion.
The four new tenants opening in Q4 will join eight new stores already opening in 2005 including Moschino’s flagship store - the very first dedicated retail outlet for this famous international brand in Thailand; Fashion Society, Thailand’s first multi-brand fashion store dedicated to Thai designers and Cloud 9, a multi brand store adding NY chic with hip designers. ME widens Gaysorn’s home products category, while Thann Native’s new concept store provides Thai spa and beauty products appealing to both locals and tourists. Three new eateries already open in 2005 include Bar Italia, Greyhound Caf? and Mistral, a new restaurant from Seattle offering fine French dining.
Additionally, five existing tenants have increased their retail spaces, in part as a response to increased customer demand: Aigner, Kwanpen, Pal Zileri, Swarovski, and Sretsis.
These tenant changes refine Gaysorn’s product range, ensuring visitors can enjoy the world’s leading styles in a comfortable, easy to navigate environment. The result of store expansions and new stores means 99% of Gaysorn’s retail space is currently occupied.
“We need to keep up with the fast moving world of international shopping, fashion trends and expectations of Thai customers and tourists,” Khun Charn Srivikorn, Chairman said.
For property improvements, Gaysorn plans to spend 100m over the next six months to maintain its image as Bangkok’s premium luxury centre. The redesigned signage program being implemented in Q4 2005 will provide convenience for all customers, especially tourists, to more easily locate their favourite stores.
Gaysorn marketing has delivered very successful results and will be enhanced for 2006 with a CRM strategy to provide ultimate satisfaction for Gaysorn’s VIP customers. Gaysorn are looking to provide a duty free service facility in partnership with tenants, to support customers going abroad. Gaysorn’s highly regarded multi lingual concierges set a new standard for mall customer service, and valet parking ensures easy access.
To celebrate their continued success Gaysorn will host the world’s first origami exhibition to raise funds for UNICEF sitting alongside and featuring some of the world’s most famous luxury brands. Starting with the traditional Japanese origami crane, renowned origami artists June Sakamoto and Jonathan Baxter have created a single artwork featuring over 50 massive cranes, and 20+ pieces showcasing the luxury brands at Gaysorn. The exhibition opens on October 20 as part of a month of events, and exhibition donors have the chance to own pieces of art and products from participating luxury brands.
“Developing strong relationships with our tenants and customers as well as dedication to property management over the last three years has led to our most successful year to date. Continuing improvements will help Gaysorn achieve double digit growth in sales and customer traffic. Through this origami exhibition for UNICEF, Gaysorn and our tenants hope to share our success with Thailand’s next generation,” explained Khun Charn Srivikorn.
