San Francisco Conference Program at Adventure in Travel Expo Provides Insight into Evolving Adventure Travel Category
Nowadays it’s not just about selling travel. As the demand for 3“adventure travel” increases, agents are finding it necessary to specialize in this $115 billion travel category that continues to grow leaps and bounds. Lucky for them, the Adventures in Travel Expo & Luxury Shows — the world’s largest adventure travel show — continues to build a top-notch career enhancement track at each of its shows, the next one of which is in San Francisco, November 11-13, 2005 at the Moscone Convention Center.
As with each of the Adventures in Travel Expo shows, now in six of the top 10 U.S markets -- San Francisco, Chicago, NYC, Los Angeles, Washington, DC and Dallas — Friday is dedicated to the industry trade. The day includes an informative conference and workshop schedule, with sessions that will include:
- What’s Hot in Adventure Travel? Four Compelling Destinations — India, Bhutan, Namibia and Libya
- The $50 Billion Baby: How to Sell Adventure & Exotic Travel — Helen Nodland, Nodland Travel Enterprises/Adventure Seminars
- Smart Travel Tips Every Agent Should Know — Safe Travel Institute
- 10 Best Ways to Increase Repeat & Referral Business — Adventures Business Consultants
- Ten Secrets for Profitable Marketing to Women Travelers — The Gutsy Traveler
- What’s Hot in Luxury Travel?
- Responsible Tourism Comes of Age: How it is Transforming the Travel Industry
In addition, CLIA will be holding a special course where agents may gain points towards their certification. It is “Selling to Special Interests — Niche Markets.”
Following the conferences, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., agents will be treated to a networking reception and a preview of the exhibit hall where they will see destinations from around the world, such as Argentina, Libya, India, Tahiti, Ireland, China, Malaysia, Jamaica, Russia and many more, along with tour operators offering virtually any trip imaginable. The show will also feature the Adventure Travel Theatre, with videos shown from every destination represented at the show from exhibitor, travelvideostore.com, and an opportunity to meet Justine Shapiro, one of the hosts of the popular PBS travel series, “Globe Trekker.”
