The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) is pleased to announce that 140 Private Education Organisations (PEOs) have obtained the trustmark for CaseTrust for Education since the launch of the scheme one year ago. This trustmark ensures that the PEOs have achieved the requirements of the scheme to continue enrolling international students into their programmes and courses. PEOs had to achieve all requirements of the scheme by 1 September 2005 to continue to enrolling new international students.
The Education Excellence Framework focuses on three key components, namely, academic excellence, organisational excellence and good student protection and welfare practices. The CaseTrust for Education Scheme was developed as part of the third component to help PEOs develop good practices in student protection and welfare. The scheme will highlight schools that possess the foundation for quality student welfare and business practices, instilling trust and confidence among both local and international students. This will help industry players raise their standards of practice while ensuring that consumers enjoy fair practices and receive a good education experience in Singapore. The scheme will raise the confidence of international students in the quality of education in Singapore. This is in line with Singapore’s ‘Global Schoolhouse’ vision, building up the PEO sector which is a key provider within the education services industry.
Ms Magdalene Lee, Director of Education Services Division, Singapore Tourism Board, said, “Quality student welfare practices are keys to the development of Singapore as a world-class education hub. CaseTrust for Education provides assurance to our international students of the priority we place on their well-being in Singapore. Singapore Education congratulates CASE for taking the lead in this critical initiative, and looks forward to working with schools that have achieved this quality marker to realise Singapore's ambition to be a premier education hub in Asia.”
