EXIM Thailand forges closer alliance with SME BANK to accelerate the expansion of SME export and import business by providing SME BANK’s customers with documentary credit, export credit insurance as well as buyer risk assessment services.
Mr. Sataporn Jinachitra, President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand) and Mr. Chotisak Asapaviriya, President of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME BANK) signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) reiterating mutual cooperation in the areas of Letter of Credit (L/C) and Letter of Guarantee (L/G) issuance as well as export credit insurance at EXIM Thailand Head Office on October 17, 2005.
Under the first MOU, EXIM Thailand will support SME Bank’s importer customers through its L/C and L/G issuance facility. This MOU is an addition to the previous EXIM Thailand-SME BANK MOU on export bill negotiation and collection services.
The second MOU focuses on export credit insurance and Buyer/Bank Risk Assessment services which EXIM Thailand will offer to SME BANK’s exporter clients to boost their confidence in penetrating into both existing and new markets. The facilities will enable them to offer more flexible payment terms to their overseas customers while helping to alleviate concerns and mitigate non-payment risks associated with international trade.
With combined strength and expertise, EXIM Thailand and SME BANK are committed to working closely together to sharpen the competitive edge of SME exporters and importers, particularly nascent SME exporters, thereby allow them to fulfil their potential as Thailand’s major propeller of export growth in both existing and emerging markets.
