Bangkok--Oct 19--DTAC
Total Access Communications Plc (DTAC) advances another technological step, being the first cell phone operator in Thailand to provide mobile connectivity at sea in Scandinavia. The company has entered a roaming agreement with Maritime Communications Partner AS, a leading Norway-based maritime cellular operator using GSM and CDMA communications solutions, to provide mobile communications at sea for Thai customers. The new service enables DTAC customers to make outgoing calls, receive incoming calls and send SMS conveniently from their mobile phones, the same way as they do on land while traveling abroad.
Wansit Saiyawan, DTAC’s Unit Head of International Business Department, says the partnership agreement with MCP is another progressive step of DTAC in expanding international roaming services to customers. Currently, DTAC has a total of 329 roaming networks in 124 countries worldwide. This agreement provides DTAC customers to access their mobile phones even when they are traveling at sea in Scandinavian countries including in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
“DTAC has continually developed and expanded our roaming networks, so as to meet customer satisfaction no matter where they are in the world. The partnership with MCP --the world’s leading maritime cellular operator with GSM 1800 network covering more than 20 cruise liners and ferries, will enable DTAC customers to achieve seamless mobile phone coverage wherever they are in the world,’’ says Wansit.
Customers can access mobile phones using MCP’s network by pressing + followed by country code, city code, and phone number at the required destinations. Or if you want to contact mobile phone users on MCP’s network, just press + followed by 88232 (country code), city code and phone number. Then you can make and receive voice calls or any other additional services conveniently from your mobile phones. The service has officially been available since October 14, 2005.
