Bangkok--Oct 21--Bangkok Bank
Bangkok Bank is preparing to distribute a new mutual fund, Bualuang Thanarat 11/49, which customers can purchase one time only from October 25 to November 1, 2005 via its nationwide branch network. The new fund is issued in response to demand from customers for investments in low-risk debt instruments, and will be especially of interest to those who missed out on the Bualuang Thanarat 10/49 fund which was fully subscribed to the maximum of Baht 9.2 billion before the Initial Public Offering (IPO) was closed.
Bangkok Bank Vice President Suyanee Puripanyawanich said the Bualuang Thanarat 11/49 mutual fund is similar to Bualuang Thanarat 10/49 in that it is an open-ended fund with a one-year lifespan. The fund will auto-redeem the units at the rate of 3.25% p.a. every 6 months and will mature in November 2006.
Bualuang Thanarat 11/49 mutual fund is managed by BBL Asset Management (BBLAM), which has had an outstanding performance in mutual fund management and earned three SET Awards in two consecutive years, 2004 and 2005. The awards are the best performer of risk adjusted performance of fixed income fund, equity fund and flexible fund in the industry.
Ms. Suyanee said, “Bualuang Thanarat11/49 has been issued to satisfy the demand from investors who missed out on Bualaung Thanarat 10/49.” The bank notes that it is the right timing for distributing a mutual fund which provides a chance for investors to get a better return on their investment than deposits at a relatively low risk
Bualuang Thanarat 11/49 invests in debt instruments issued by the Government or the Bank of Thailand, such as treasury bills, bonds, or debt instruments issued or guaranteed by the Financial Institutions Development Fund. The fund may invest some of its assets in deposits as well.
The fund size of Bualuang Thanarat 11/49, which is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), is Baht 5 billion. The fund size can be extended to Baht 5.75 billion if it receives strong interest from investors during the October 25-November 1 IPO.
