NEW DELHI, India (eTurboNews) -- Following the recent bombings in Bali, Indonesia and Singapore have developed a joint tourism promotion campaign in order to make full use of Indonesia's well-known resort island of Bali and Singapore's world-renowned airlines, Singapore Airlines.
Indonesian Minister of Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik told reporters in Jakarta that under the promotion, foreign tourists to Singapore, particularly Chinese, Indian and Middle-Eastern tourists, will be given discounts on visits to Indonesia.
Wacik recently held a meeting with Singaporean Trade and Industry minister. The meeting was focused on how to make use of Bali's position as one the best tourist island in the world and Singapore Airlines as the best airline in the world, as per the information available.
"We want to build a synergy of the two things, and while they have access to many world cities, we have tourist objects that may meet the preferences of world tourists," said Wacik.
Through this promotion, the Indonesian Tourism Association and the Singaporean Association of Travel Agencies will jointly organize "Sing-In Tours."
Indonesia hopes that 10 percent of the more than 1.3 million Chinese and Indian tourists visiting Singapore will continue their vacation to Indonesia, reported local media.
"Our hope is that 10 percent of the tourists from China visiting Singapore will be able to continue their travel to Indonesia," Yanti Sukamdani Harjoprakoso, chairperson of the Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association said, according to Asia Times Online. "The most important thing to note is that October and November are not a season of tourists, but their number will increase during peak season in December."
