MUSCAT, Oman (eTurboNews) -- Oman's top tourism and beachfront residential development The Wave kicked-off with the inauguration of its sales center.
Sayyid Ali bin Hamoud al Busaidy, minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court, inaugurated the kick-off in the presence of Muscat Municipality Head and chairman of the Board of Waterfront Investments chairman Abdulla bin Abbas bin Ahmed, and Tourism Minister Rajha bint Abdulameer bin Ali.
The center will, Al Busaidy said, serve as an example of The Wave, Muscat's development model, which seeks to combine Oman's distinct architecture style with modern facilities and amenities for enterprises and customers. "It will provide customers' business affiliates, consultants and others first-hand view of the one-of-its-kind fully integrated beachfront residential community," he said.
The 360-square-meter sales office will act as an ideal resource center, showcasing the master-plan, model, details on the progress of the development, and is equipped with the latest technology, marketing tools and people skills to provide professional services to both buyers and business partners. The Wave is a joint venture comprising Oman's Waterfront Investments, representing the Government of Oman, the National Investment Funds Company that represents the Omani Pension Funds, and the UAE's Majid al Futtaim Investments (MAF).
The center, which will soon offer sales facilities later this year, also has a number of meeting amenities for investors and clients. Outside the atrium, the office has a picturesque deck with sails, hinting at the rich seafaring heritage of the Sultanate. "The office is part of our vision at The Wave to provide unmatched solutions in the real estate marketplace," Al Busaidy said.
Overlooking the Gulf of Oman near the Seeb International Airport, The Wave will be a master planned community occupying an area of 2,500,000 square meters along seven kilometers of beach. The Wave will involve infrastructure development and site improvement, which will encompass a signature 18 hole green golf course, 300 berth marina, four luxury hotels, villas, retail and restaurant outlets with the ambience of al fresco dining.
The residential component will contain a mix of quality villas, townhouses and apartments and some of these will be waterfront and beachfront.
Site clearing has already commenced and prequalification for the major work packages is expected to be complete by the end of 2005. The first phase of major construction work will occur in 2006 and will consist of harbor walls, land reclamation and site preparation, together with utilities.
Golf course construction will commence during this phase and the first residential component will be completed at the end of 2007.
The entire construction will take about six years.
