Bangkok--Nov 4--Thai Airways
Today (4 November 2005) at 09.00 hours, at the Head Office of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, Mr. Thanong Bidaya, Minister for the Ministry of Finance, visited THAI. During Mr. Bidaya’s visit, THAI’s Management presented a briefing on the company’s recent operating results, fleet development, traffic plan, and new destinations, which was presided by Mr. Suparut Kawatkul, Second Vice Chairman of THAI’s Board of Directors, and members of THAI’s Management.
Mr. Thanong Bidaya said that the purpose of his visit to THAI was to receive a briefing about the company’s operating results, as the Ministry of Finance is THAI’s major shareholder and to lend support to the company’s Board of Directors, Management, and all THAI employees, who have made a concerted effort to surpass all obstacles and challenges. The greatest challenge to the company was the continually increasing cost of jet fuel, which affected the company’s profitability.
Mr. Bidaya expressed praise of efforts conducted by the company’s Management and employees, which resulted in the company’s satisfactory year-end operating results during Fiscal Year 2004/05. Furthermore, he stated that THAI is in a position to compete effectively and had an operating result that was equivalent to that experienced by competitor air carriers in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, the Finance Minister received a briefing on the company’s ongoing activities and continuing projects, such as improvements in the quality of inflight service provision as well as service standards, passenger seat retrofit, and company projects such as THAI’s operations at Suvarnabhumi International Airport. End.
