Lufthansa, operator of 14 weekly flights between Bangkok and Germany (Frankfurt and Munich), together with Thai Airways International is today celebrating a decade of a very special relationship - the trailblazing code share agreement between these two partners. With almost 800 code share flights per week, 40,000 a year, the relationship between Lufthansa and THAI has never been stronger.
Not only does the THAI / Lufthansa relationship mirror the very strong one that exists between Thailand and Germany, but it also helped to give birth to the Star Alliance which has now become, with 16 members, the world’s biggest and most effective airline grouping. With more than 15,000 daily flights and 790 destinations in 138 countries, Star Alliance has become a formidable force in global aviation.
“The 10th aniversary of the code share agreement is evidence of our strong and long standing relationship. I am confident that our relationship will continue to develop as our enduring partnership and spirit of cooperation grows,“ said Mr Michael Erfert, Director Alliances, Lufthansa German Airlines. “This is indeed a good year for auspicious anniversaries — as many are aware that Lufthansa is celebrating 50 years of flight this year — and it is 46 years this month since we relaunched our Berlin-Bangkok service. I am extremely delighted to be part of both celebrations,“ concluded Mr. Erfert.
Guests, friends, colleague of both airlines are joining today to celebrate in Bangkok true German “Oktoberfest” fashion.
Lufthansa German Airlines operates 14 weekly flights between Bangkok and Germany (Frankfurt and Munich), seven of which continue to Jakarta, three to Ho Chi Minh City, and four to Kuala Lumpur. These flights make Lufthansa the leading European airline serving the region with the most connections to and from Europe and to three other major cities in the region.
