Bangkok--Nov 9--DTAC
Happy from DTAC today launched “Krapuk SIM Card,” pioneering the service in Thailand whereby Krapuk SIM Card users get credit for answering incoming calls from DTAC and fellow Happy numbers. From the “Jai Dee” basis characteristic of Happy, the innovative Krapuk SIM Card represents a concrete step in DTAC’s “web-marketing” strategy to enliven the market towards the year-end festive season.
Mr Sigve Brekke, Chief Executive Officer of Total Access Communication (DTAC) Plc, says Krapuk SIM Card is the latest addition to the range of Happy’s distinctive products and which also addresses the overall market sentiment among consumers. “The telecoms sector has fallen somewhat slacken in the lull after the price war. It needs some sort of stimulants. We are therefore extremely confident that today’s launch of Krapuk SIM reflects Happy’s leadership in delivering innovative services. This move will also broaden and strengthen the network of DTAC customers, building upon the “Community SIM” foundation laid by the Hay Ha SIM Card.”
Mr Thana Thienachariya, DTAC’s Chief Commercial Officer, explains that web- marketing is the unique concept of Happy designed to motivate more active usage among DTAC customers. Krapuk SIM card users will get credit refilled upon answering calls from fellow DTAC numbers. This will have an impact of broadening customer base through words-of-mouth, while minimising churn rate as customers feel they constantly get privileges as active users of DTAC network. “This new approach of web-marketing which thrives upon the marketing dynamics generated among our own group of customers is overtaking the conventional approach of mass advertisement campaign which is ultra-competitive. Web-marketing also paves the way for weaving the Happy network, for which our Hay Ha SIM Card has been a successful prelude,” Mr Thana says.
He adds that: ‘’Krapuk SIM Card is the first of its kind in Thailand to reward the answering of incoming calls, which is the most common pattern of usage. For the first time in Thailand, the customer answers a call and gets more credit, with the calling party subject to the normal call rates. Happy will automatically credit to the Krapuk SIM card customer one baht per one minute of calls received from a DTAC number. The customer can opt to save these credits for the rainy days. Krapuk SIM Card reflects DTAC’s proactive marketing strategy going forward for the intensifying competition next year. It also reaffirms our web-marketing concept with Hay Ha SIM Card as trailblazer.”
The unique feature of Krapuk SIM Card is that whenever the customer answers an incoming call from a DTAC number, he or she gets one baht credit per one minute of that incoming call. Maximum credit extended is 10 baht per one such call. The calling rates are 3 baht per minute for the first two minutes, and one baht per each subsequent minute. Calls are charged by minute.
Krapuk SIM Card is available from today on at 199 baht each at DTAC shops and Happy sales agents nationwide. It is valid for 30 days. Those subscribing from now until 31 December 2005 will get 600 baht of extra credit. (The customer will get 50 baht upon activating the Card. The Happy system will thereafter automatically credit 50 baht on a monthly basis for another 11 months provided the SIM Card remains active.) Cards can be topped up at any regular channel.
