Bangkok--Nov 10--Thai Airways
Mr. Somchainuk Engtrakul, Board Member Acting as President, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, announced that the company will not separate its 5 business units, those being: Cargo and Mail Commercial Department, Catering Department, Ground Customer Services Department, Ground Support Equipment Services Department, and Technical Department. These business units will undergo further development.
Mr. Engtrakul said that there would be no clear separation for the existing 5 business units from the company. Establishment of the subsidiaries will be initiated in order to identify each business unit’s investments, profit centers, and profitability for the goal of increasing operational flexibility that is pertinent in today’s highly competitive airline industry.
Furthermore, Mr. Engtrakul said that the 5 business units will be motivated towards the continual development of THAI’s airline businesses, with added flexibility and independence for each respective unit, facilitating the company’s imminent transition to operations at Suvarnabhumi International Airport as the regional hub based from Bangkok. In order for THAI to compete effectively in the growing Southeast Asian region aviation sector, the company determined that it was necessary to adapt its business units, as well as airline products and services. End.
