Bangkok--Nov 23--HSBC
HSBC is introducing the first Online Security Device in Thailand to protect Personal Internet Banking transactions. HSBC is the only bank in Thailand to offer this state-of-the-art innovation for online personal banking recognized by the international banking industry as the best online security enhancer available in the world today.
HSBC is giving out the HSBC Online Security Device to all subscribers of its Personal Internet Banking online@hsbc without charge from 27 November this year.
Mr. Wichit Payuhanaveechai, Head of Personal Financial Services of HSBC in Thailand, said, “As the world’s leading bank, HSBC is committed to deliver the highest level of security for all banking transactions to its customers. We have planned and invested in state-of-the-art technology to improve the security of banking transactions at global, regional and local operations levels. The newly developed online security device has been delivered to Personal Internet Banking customers using online@hsbc in 14 countries throughout the Asia Pacific region, allowing them to carry out all critical transactions online with confidence.”
Developed based on the latest authentication technology widely respected by the global banking industry, HSBC Online Security Device can provide better safeguards for customers’ data. When logging in to their personal Internet banking account, customers will be asked to key in a 6-digit security code as it appears on the device’s screen.
“The device comes with an advanced ability to encrypt random security codes actively every minute. In addition to regular Internet Banking ID and password, HSBC customers using the online@hsbc personal Internet banking service need to enter a 6-digit PIN displayed on the device’s screen. With this extra security measure, critical data and bank account information are effectively protected against unauthorized access and today’s Internet threats,” added Mr. Wichit.
Pol.Col. Yanaphon Youngyuen, Director of the Bureau of Hi-Tech Crime, Department of Special Investigation, said “I am very delighted to learn that HSBC is focused on providing the highest level of security in banking transactions. In particular, the bank has invested substantially in the new online security device which is considered the most advanced authentication technology available anywhere in the world today. The more we take these security issues seriously, the better we will be able to minimize and prevent Internet threats.”
To provide customers with greater convenience, online@hsbc offers a 24-hour banking service, anytime, everywhere in the world, including account enquiry and summary (account and credit card balance information); access to statement information for the past 12 months; direct download of financial information to software such as Microsoft Money and Quicken; fund transfers between accounts, to local banks, to overseas beneficiaries, and to demand draft; foreign exchange; check book order; personal information update; and online rewards redemption.
