Bangkok--Nov 23--DENTSU (THAILAND)
Bangkok Fashion City, a program of Thailand’s Ministry of Industry, announced today it would launch a new 17-month, 80-million-baht international promotion effort on November 22 to draw international attention to Thailand’s fashion industry. The program will also open a new press center on November 22 to support and promote the efforts of Bangkok Fashion City’s several projects. International advertising and PR company Dentsu will manage both the center and the promotion program.
Mr. Chakramon Phasukavanich, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, will speak at a press conference announcing the opening of the press center which is scheduled for 2 o’clock on Tuesday, November 22 at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Bangkok.
Said Permanent Secretary: “Bangkok Fashion City is helping the fashion industry to develop human the resources, the financial capital, and the industrial technology it needs to compete in world markets and to make Bangkok a world center for design and production of international fashion. There is every evidence that the program is succeeding. In the first nine months of 2005, export revenue from the apparel and textile industry was nearly 7.5 billion dollars U.S. a rise in revenue, year-to-year, of 13.3 percent.”
Added the Permanent Secretary: “Once the skills are in place to design, manufacture, and market clothes for the international consumer, we must still bring that message to consumers and buyers around the world. Getting the word out is the task of the Bangkok City Fashion promotion campaign which will be managed by Dentsu.”
Said campaign director Panidol Jayapani, who heads the Dentsu agency in Thailand: “The principal goal of the Bangkok Fashion City promotion campaign will be to expand the media’s understanding of the design and industrial resources that are quickly making Bangkok a regional capital for fashion and style. We will report on the industry leaders here in Thailand and also follow them abroad to promote them in the international media as they bring their designs and products to fashion and textile trade shows in other world capitals, including Milan, Paris, London, New York, and Beijing.”
Added Jayapani: “Our job will also be to provide the Bangkok Fashion City subprojects with public relations assistance and to act as coordinators for the public and the media attempting to learn more about Thailand’s fashion brands and industry leaders. As we proceed, we will document for the media and the public the successes and milestones of the program as it proceeds to bring Bangkok fashion to consumers and buyers in Thailand and the world outside.”
The Bangkok Fashion City Press Center will be co-located at two addresses:
- Dentsu (Thailand) Ltd. offices in Bangkok in the U Chu Liang Bldg., 27th Floor, Rama IV Rd. and
- Head Office of Bangkok Fashion City, 6th Fl. Department of Industrial Promotion on Rama VI Rd. in Bangkok.
Concluded Mr. Jayapani: “The new press center will provide support for Bangkok Fashion City and its projects — providing and distributing press releases, coordinating media visits and interviews, and organizing special publicity events related to the program. Our mission is to create awareness of Bangkok’s unmatched fashion resources and talent and to make consumers and media alike aware that Bangkok fully intends to become the fashion capital of Asia.”
