Bangkok--Nov 25--Siam Commercial Bank
Siam Commercial Bank has added to its list of major awards this year with “Best Domestic Bank in Thailand 2005” by The Asset and “The 1st in Thailand’s corporate governance ranking” by Euromoney and CLSA-Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA).
Khunying Jada Wattanasiritham, SCB President, said that the latest 3 awards are the established and global barometers of SCB’s top-notch financial products and services, as well as corporate governance practices aimed at reinforcing transparency, professionalism in business operation and shareholders’ rights. SCB has long recognized the critical importance of good governance and believed that transparent corporate governance framework would lead to sustainable international competitiveness. Apart from strengthening customers and shareholders’ trust, the Bank is committed corporate responsibility to the society at large.
SCB clinched The Asset’s “The Best Domestic Bank in Thailand 2005” for the sixth straight year. The HK-based magazine’s decision was made by editors specializing in Asian financial business based on their assessment of SCB’s policy, business strategy and operation results.
Two awards for corporate governance presented by Euromoney and CLSA-AGCG were based on a worldwide poll of institutional investors specializing in Asian equity markets. In “CG Watch Report 2005” prepared by CLSA, a leading global equity investment firm, and ACGA, SCB topped Thailand’s corporate governance category for the second year running.
This year, SCB carried off “The Best Bank in Thailand” from the highly acclaimed and widely read The Banker, Euromoney and FinanceAsia. The Bank’s business units have received several repeated awards and accolades, including Best Retail Bank in Thailand, Best Bond House and Best Local Derivative House. Recently, SCB was the only bank in Thailand and ASEAN in BusinessWeek’s annual ranking of 150 top performing companies. These achievements are the reflection of the trust that financial experts and investors have in SCB’s underlying philosophy to consistently and continuously innovate and strive to become the “Premier Universal Bank” in Thailand. End.
