Thai Airways International Public Company Limited appointed a committee to select a new President and announced qualification for applicants.
Mr. Wanchai Sarathulthat, THAI’s Chairman said that THAI has appointed a President Selection Committee to select a new President who will oversee THAI’s operations, replacing the current President who will complete his term in 2006. This action is in accordance with the Standard Quality of Directors and State Enterprise Employees Act (Issue No.4) 2000, Clause 8 and the following committee members were selected:
1. Mr. Wanchai Sarathulthat Chairman
THAI’s Chairman of the Board of Directors
2. Mr. Somchainuk Engtrakul Committee
THAI’s Member of the Board of Directors
3. Mrs. Puntip Surathin Committee
Representative from the Ministry of Finance
4. Mrs. Penja Onchid Committee
Representative from the National Economic and Social Development Board
5. Mr. Chitsanti Dhanasobhon Committee
Governor, The State Railway of Thailand
The Selection Committee for THAI’s new President will have the authority to announce the qualifications of the President as well as the selection process and regulations in order to select candidates who are qualified in terms of education/knowledge, experience and in accordance with the Standard Quality of Directors and State Enterprise Employees Act 2000 (Issue No.4) and the company’s regulations 2002 to select and appoint a new President, in addition to the announcement of names of the qualified candidate to THAI’s Board of Directors.
The recruitment of THAI’s President will be open for applications between 1-30 December 2005 and the qualified candidates will be announced on January 16, 2006 at THAI’s Head Office. The Selection Committee will call on the qualified candidates who have passed the initial selection process for an interview between 23-31 January 2006. Candidates who do not attend for the interview will be disqualified. Qualifications for THAI’s President are as follows:
1. General Qualifications
1.1. Thai national
1.2. Aged between 45 and not over 60 years old on the announcement date
1.3. Not being member of the Board of Directors of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited on the application date
1.4. Able to work full time for Thai Airways International Public Company Limited
1.5. Being psychologically sound
1.6. Not being, and never have been bankrupt
1.7. Has never been sentenced to imprisonment except for charges caused by negligence or petty offenses
1.8. Has never been sentenced to surrender his/her assets due to unusual wealth
1.9. Not being political appointee, member of Parliament, senator, member of a local council or local administrator
1.10. Not being a Board member, advisor or officer in any political party
1.11. Has never been dismissed or terminated from the government sector, state enterprise or public company limited due to corruption
1.12. Not being now or within the past three years a Board member, management member or authorized person in any juristic persons on concession with Thai Airways International Public Company Limited. Exception is made only if the applicant has been appointed by Thai Airways International Public Company Limited to be Chairman of the Board of Directors or a member of the Board of Directors of such juristic persons
1.13. Has never committed serious disciplinary action, and is not under investigation process for such action nor under criminal charge process except for the charges caused by negligence or petty offences
2. Specific Qualifications
2.1 Having competency and experience in managing large organization with revenue of at least 10,000 Million baht/year.
2.2 In case of currently or formerly being administrator of private sector, he/she must be in a position of at least Deputy Executive at the highest level of such organization, or in case of currently or formerly being with government authority, he/she must be in a position of at least Director-General or Chief of such Authority being equivalent to the Director-General
2.3 Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
2.4 In case of being a staff of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, he/she must be in a position of at least Senior Vice President (THAI no longer has any SVP — we do have EVP)
2.5 Being knowledgeable with excellent ability to decide, command and establish the policy derived from the Board of Directors
2.6 Having business vision, good human relations and international communication skills
2.7 Having outstanding competence in managing an organization with multiple activities and operations
3. Employment Conditions, Salary and Fringe Benefits
3.1 Terms of Employment: The contract will be signed for an initial term not exceeding four (4) years. A one time renewal may be considered provided that the applicant is not over sixty (60) years of age at the time of renewal. The contract will be terminated immediately upon reaching the age of sixty (60)
3.2 Salary and fringe benefits shall be based on qualifications and experience of the selected candidate and as agreed by the Sub Committee on Salary and Fringe Benefits of the President subject to the approval from the Board of Directors

Application process will be held from 08.00 — 17.00 hours from December 1, 2005 through to December 30, 2005 (except on public holidays). The following supporting documents must be certified by the applicant and attached to the application:
4.1 Curriculum vitae in detail
4.2 Educational certificates, transcript of records
4.3 Documents pertaining to expertise, working experience or specialized skills
4.4 Letter of reference issued by the governing function/authority to certify the qualifications as described in section/Article 2 is required
4.5 A copy of House Registration
4.6 A copy of identification card/Civil Servant card or Government Organization card
4.7 Two 2” photos without hat taken within 6 months
4.8 Medical Certificate issued within the past month
4.9 Written work plan for Thai Airways International Public Company Limited in Thai, not more than 5 A-4 pages
5. Selection Process
5.1 The Company will announce the preliminary qualified applicants by January 16, 2006 at the Headquarters
5.2 Preliminary qualified applicants will be invited for interview from January 23, 2006 through January 31, 2006. Non-attendance will be regarded as withdrawal
The Company reserves the right to consider and select the appropriate applicants/candidates as deemed justified. The decision of the President Selection Committee is considered final. End.
