Bangkok--Dec 8--Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya
Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya on Friday, 2 December 2005 held its annual Christmas Charity Light Up, a non-profit event to raise funds for children with HIV/AIDS at the Camillian Center, Rayong. Ticket sales, cash donations from private companies, individuals and Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya Band Members (staff), and proceeds from a Silent Auction held at the event raised close to THB 600,000. Aside from organizing the charity event, Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya sponsored food and beverages along with other sponsors.
Under the care and supervision of Father Giovanni Contarin, M.I., the center houses and cares for 40 Thai children living with HIV/AIDS in an atmosphere that tries to replicate that of other healthy children. Thirty-six (36) of these Thai children are being treated with anti retroviral medication; the other 4 children are HIV negative but live with a parent that is living with HIV/AIDS.
Now in its fourth year, the Christmas Charity Light-Up was once again fun-packed but very meaningful. The event was highlighted by the ceremonial lighting of Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya’s themed Christmas tree complete with a spectacular fireworks display, pre-dinner cocktails with canap?s at the Sunset Strip, gala dinner featuring international dishes highlighted by a spit-roasted whole carcass of beef, and Silent Auction at the Hall of Fame.
As in previous years, major government officials, dignitaries and VIPs of Pattaya and neighboring communities attended the special event to celebrate in the spirit of giving. Present were Fr. Giovanni Contarin of the Camillian Center, Pattaya Mail Managing Director, Mr. Peter Malhotra, the Mayor of the City of Pattaya, the Honorable Nirun Wattanasartsathorn, Chairperson of the Cholburi Administration Organization, Khun Pinyo Tanviset and by Member of Parliament, the Honorable Chanyuth Hengtrakoon.
Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya is a 4-star property, rated by the Hotel Standard of Thailand, the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) and the Thai Hotels Association (THA). The Hotel features 320 musical-themed rooms with balconies, in-room CD players, spa, gym, a 2000-sq.meter beach-sand pool, Lil’ Rock Club for kids, hi-speed internet access and the famous Hard Rock Cafe.
