The Market for Alternative Investment (mai) announced that the mai will grant THB10 million to Thailand’s first comprehensive design center -- the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC).
The TCDC will provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and students alike to showcase their work, at either TCDC’s rotating or permanent exhibitions. These opportunities will encourage interested persons to learn more and continue to develop their designs, which could create value-added products and help give Thai companies a competitive edge in the world market.
The providing of more chances for young, creative people to show off their talents will help encourage the emergence of new entrepreneurs, which is in accord with the mai’s policy to support new and active businesspeople. These new generation entrepreneurs could become a strong foundation for the development of strategic industries.
Aside from hosting exhibitions for talented designers, the TCDC also provides an extensive design library, comprised of over 15,000 design books and related publications and a large selection of films, video and other multi-media materials. TCDC’s library is co-managed by Material ConneXion Bangkok (MCB), a leading company in design materials.
The TCDC, established on June 18, 2005, is under the supervision of the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (OKMD), the Prime Minister’s Office.
