“Samsung Sports World” promises a weekly dose of entertaining action and loads of big prizes!
Get set to be wowed this festive season as AXN (Ch. 19, UBC), Asia's leading action and adventure entertainment cable channel, brings viewers a brand new sports entertainment experience! Samsung Sports World is an AXN original production and broadcasts exclusively on AXN, every Wednesday at 8.30 pm, premiering on 21 December 2005.
An entertaining weekly wrap-up of all the major sporting highlights of the week, Samsung Sports World is a 30-minute, fast-paced and refreshing “sportertainment” magazine program that marks the first time AXN is producing and presenting a sports news magazine show on its channel.
Catch Chelsea In Action “Live” at Stamford Bridge!
For its first two episodes, Samsung Sports World is giving viewers the chance to win the trip of a lifetime, an all-inclusive trip for two lucky winners to England to watch a potential top-of-the-table clash between current English Premier League leader Chelsea and Champions League winner Liverpool in February 2006!! It doesn't end there — for its third and fourth episodes, Samsung Sports World is giving away another two tickets to catch the much-anticipated London derby, Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur!
A Show Like No Other — There’s Something For Everyone, Every Week!
Viewers will not only get to enjoy high-level action entertainment, but they will also have something to look forward to every week — a question will be given during each episode where viewers who submit the correct answer will stand a chance to win the latest Samsung products from hand phones to LCD TVs every week for the entire year!
What's more, there will be a whole range of mobile game downloads with new downloads being made available every week. Viewers can log on to www.samsung.com/sportsworld to check out the games. Ten downloads will be available from the first week alone, offering a wide range of sports-related games from soccer, golf, basketball, hockey, beach volleyball, car racing, tennis, darts and even decathlon and Tour de France cycling!
Tailored specifically for Asian audiences, Samsung Sports World will air every week, starting from 21 December 2005. The program will include football coverage from around the world and highlights of major international and regional sporting events that appeal to Asian viewers, like the upcoming Australian Open. Daily updates on the 2006 World Cup will also be shown during the two months leading up to, and during the world’s biggest football event. Besides featuring sports with big appeal amongst Asian viewers such as golf, tennis, badminton and table tennis, there will also be highlights of some rapidly emerging lifestyle sports like wakeboarding, in-line skating and adventure races.
With something for everyone, Samsung Sports World is sure to attract a diverse crowd. The fun and fast-paced presentation style of the program guarantees that both sporting and non-sporting fans will be just as entertained!
Helmed by two stellar hosts, seasoned sports commentators John Faulkner and Ben Heyhoe Flint, Samsung Sports World promises to showcase high-octane wit and insightful commentary on the best in sports today. John Faulkner is no stranger to big-name global sports events, having presented and commentated for the Atlanta Olympics, Euro 2000, the Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games, the Brunei SEA Games and the Champions League. A respected pioneer of sports consultancy in Asia, Ben Heyhoe Flint has hosted the Asian PGA Tour Tournament Prize Presentations, the Caltex Singapore Masters and the 2005 Samsung Ladies Masters.
“Samsung Sports World will introduce another entertainment dimension, 'Sportertainment', to our viewers. Its refreshing style and high-energy content is tailored to appeal to our viewers, who expect high quality, high-energy entertainment from AXN. We are delighted with this collaboration with Samsung to create an original production sports news magazine program,” said Mr Gregory Ho, Vice-President of Advertising Sales, SPE Networks - Asia.
The production of Samsung Sports World complements AXN’s long history of involvement with broadcasting lifestyle sports, from the Eco Challenge Expedition Race to the Mild Seven Outdoor Quest. Since 2001, AXN has been organizing Asia's premier urban adventure race — the AXN Challenge, which has been hosted across Asia including Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Malaysia, with qualifying rounds in Thailand and India. For the past two years, AXN has been, and will continue to be, the official pan-regional broadcaster of the World Rally Championship (WRC).
Busy viewers will be able to catch Samsung Sports World at different time slots during the week — Wednesdays at 8.30 pm, followed by repeats at 12 midnight on the same day, as well as 5.30 pm on Thursdays and Sundays.
