After five successful years of supporting cultural and environmental conservation projects nation wide, Ford Thailand today announces the official beginning of the 6th Ford Motor Company Conservation and Environmental Grants program. Applications are open now until March 31, 2006.
Mr. John Felice, President of Ford Thailand, said: “We feel proud to support Thai individuals and institutions dedicated to preserving the country’s valuable cultural and environmental resources. The rising public awareness on conservation over the last 5 years makes us feel that our efforts have indeed started to make a difference. Most importantly, we are gratified to know that important conservation and youth development projects are contributing everyday to preserving Thailand’s environmental, cultural and social heritage for its future generations. This is a clear proof of our commitment to making a ‘Better World’, a global vision which applies to all markets in which we operate.”
Launched in Thailand since 2000, the Grants Program has already extended financial assistance worth over Bt16 million to more than 80 individuals or small non-profit groups to help them maintain and develop projects that help conserve non-renewable resources and preserve valuable aspects of cultural heritage within their local communities. The grants are awarded to projects in the areas of conservation and preservation of the environment, culture and heritage and energy as well as youth development.
The number of applicants has been steadily rising year on year, proving that the Ford Motor Company Conservation and Environment Grant project has gained incremental recognition in Thailand. The number of winning projects and value of grants for each project, however, are not fixed, and vary depending on the unique requirements of a project.
The judging panel, independent from Ford, comprises members who have distinguished themselves in environmental protection, natural resource preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage. Criteria for the contest are merits for usefulness and practicality, dedication and commitment of its participants, financial need, originality, and replicability.
