Thailand Securities Depository Co. Ltd. (TSD) joins forces with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra (BSO) Foundation in organizing a series of charity performances under the title “TSD Concert Series 2006”, which will be performed by well-known musicians, throughout 2006. Both organizations will provide additional support to develop the classical music field in Thailand. The debut performance will be the TSD Concert Series No. 1: “Violin and Piano Recital”, by young classical music talents violinist Taweewet Srinarong and pianist Pornphan Banternghansa on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 in the Small Hall of the Thailand Cultural Center.
TSD President Mrs. Nongram Wongwanich said that “The original idea behind these concerts is the planned continuation from 2005, during which the TSD and the BSO organized the TSD 10th Anniversary Classical Concert. That concert was intended to be a gesture of gratitude to TSD clients and to commemorate TSD’s 10th anniversary. The event was well-received and calls were made for more classical concerts to be organized.
“In 2006, the TSD will join once again with the BSO, and organize a series of concerts to be staged throughout the year. These events will be a stage for quality artists to show off their talents and for music lovers to enjoy a variety of well-selected and quality classical music.
“These days, it is so hard to find good classical music. In Thailand, this type of music has been difficult to develop. Therefore, we hope that these concerts will also serve local classical music enthusiasts. Once a greater audience is exposed to this type of music and learns to appreciate it more, classical musicians will eventually obtain more opportunities to show off their talents and make a decent living at their craft. Musicians will also gain the opportunity to practice more and compose new scores for the Thai classical music industry, which is an art form that focuses on producing emotional pleasure”, said the TSD President.
The TSD Concert Series 2006 is being produced with the cooperation of the BSO, which is a non-profit organization dedicating itself to social well-being. The proceeds from the concerts will turned over to HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra for social development projects.
Mrs. Atchara Tejapaibul, Director and Secretary-General of the BSO Foundation, said, “The BSO is delighted to once again be able to join the TSD after the TSD’s 10th Anniversary Classical Concert last year, which was been quite a success. We are honored to be entrusted with organizing the TSD Concert Series 2006. It will be another opportunity for the BSO to help create nice things for society together with the TSD. To build up interest in the TSD Concert Series 2006, we will organize variety of quality concerts and book many world-famous artists.”
