JETRO Chairman’s visit to Thailand. Mission: “To Strengthen Concrete Thai-Japanese Economic Cooperation”, announces JETRO Bangkok Office
JETRO, Bangkok announced that the Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization will visit Thailand where he will meet with Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawat, his chief advisor, Dr. Pansuk Vinyaratn, and Finance Minister Thanong Bidaya to exchange views on economic relationships, on JETRO’s cooperation with Thailand’s “Kitchen of the World” and on “Thai Auto Human Resource Development” policies. Promotion of mutual investment between both countries will also be discussed.
“To respond to the government policy to promote Thailand as the Kitchen of the World, JETRO will support more exposure of Thai food to Japanese consumers.
“Thailand achieved its automobile production to more than one million units last year. Now Thailand has become the top-runner in auto production in ASEAN and aims to be the “Detroit of Asia”. However, there is still a shortage of human resources, particularly engineering experts, in the Thai auto industry. Thus, Thai human resource development in the auto industry will be the aim of JETRO‘s contribution.
“Apart from the above cooperative areas, Mr. Osamu Watanabe, Chairman of the executive board of JETRO, with headquarters in Tokyo, will also attend the Opening Ceremony of the “DNA of Japanese Design” exhibition at the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) on February 3rd, 2006 at Gallery 2 of TCDC, 6th floor, the Emporium Shopping Complex. The “DNA of Japanese Design” exhibition has been jointly organized by TCDC and JETRO to serve the new Thai government policy of Value Creation. The exhibition does not simply showcase Japanese design products. The main objective is not only for ‘appreciation’ but to act as a ‘stimulus’ for Thais to uncover the secrets of Japanese design”, said JETRO Bangkok President Atsuo Kuroda.
The “decoding of Japanese products DNA” will highlight the whole cycle of product development as practiced in Japan, from the conception of which product to develop, the innovation involved, to the process of bringing the product to market. The DNA Japan’s Design exhibition in Thailand is the first ever exhibition in the world. It is expected that the detailed presentation of the Japanese innovative approach to products will also attract great interest here in Thailand.
