Printronix Introduces P7000 Line-Matrix Print Platform
Ten times less expensive than laser or serial matrix, the P7000 series delivers cost savings and increased uptime in high-volume applications
Printronix Inc. (NASDAQ: PTNX), the leading integrated supply-chain printing solutions manufacturer, today introduced worldwide the P7000 line-matrix print platform. The P7000 platform supersedes Printronix’s existing P5000 series and includes customer-driven models created for the Asian-Pacific market.

Printronix has adapted its line-matrix technology for customers in Asia-Pacific markets with the introduction of the P7000H Series family (for Chinese, Korean and Japanese language requirement). Combining the processing power of the Printronix PSA3 controller and fine-point hammer design, the P7000H Series prints at a higher resolution to accommodate the complexities and nuances of character shapes found in many Asian languages. While the ASCII based P7000 is now equipped with Vietnam and Thailand language support specially developed for these countries.
Rounding out the launch, Printronix introduces the P7000ZT Series, enabling users to print from the first to the last line on a form, and then tear off the form without any form loss. This series is ideal for applications requiring precise accounting of forms or for forms that are simply too expensive to waste.
Lowest Cost of Printing Lowered: Ultra Capacity Ribbons
Printronix set out to make the P7000 series the most cost-efficient line-matrix printers available. To achieve this, the company invested significantly in the design and testing of fabrics, ink formulations and constructions to develop these new consumables. The results are the Ultra Capacity and Ultra Capacity HD ribbons. The Ultra Capacity ribbon is for the standard resolution printers and the HD variation is optimized specially for the P7000H Series to meet the tough demands of high-density, fine-point printing. Both new ribbons are suitable for text and bar-code applications and deliver darker, sharper print, starting 20 percent darker and lasting three times longer than that of Printronix’s most popular 30 million character ribbons. In addition to the labor savings from reduced consumable handling, the efficiency of these new designs results in an even lower cost per page.
Automatically Track Ribbon Life: Integrated Print Management System
Changing ribbons too frequently wastes money while changing them infrequently produces inconsistent or unusable output — and constantly monitoring the print quality manually is the biggest waste of all, according to Printronix. Without introducing any additional labor or set up, the new P7000 Integrated Printing Management System monitors and communicates ribbon life automatically.
