Businesses seeking funding for growth in 2006 should consider capitalising their intellectual property assets under the Asset Capitalisation Scheme, says Bangkok Bank’s senior executive vice president in charge of credit management, Mr. Suvarn Thansathit.
“Under the Asset Capitalisation Scheme, businesses can borrow from Bangkok Bank using intellectual property assets such as brands and trademarks as collateral,” Mr Thansathit said.
“The loans are available to any kind of company, including businesses in the agricultural, retail, manufacturing, service, and transportation sectors, as well as OTOP businesses.”
Bangkok Bank is providing information about the government’s Asset Capitalisation Scheme to SME customers at the Intellectual Property Exhibition on February 15.
The 1st Seminar on Intellectual Property for Economic Development is being organized by the Thai Intellectual Property Department and will be held from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., February 15 at the Grand Diamond Ballroom, Impact Muangthongthani Exhibition Centre.
All business people are warmly invited to visit Bangkok Bank’s booth.
Mr. Suvarn Thansathit said the bank has provided loans of more than 980 million Baht to 355 customers under the Asset Capitalisation Scheme since signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government sector in 2004.
“We will continue focusing on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises to gain more financial options under the Asset Capitalisation Scheme in line with the government’s policy,” he said.
“Other categories of assets can be used as collateral for the loans under the scheme, such as lease agreements on public land owned by the Treasury Department, on machinery and even vending stalls with the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority at Chatuchak Market.”
