CHN Rangsit University Thailand (CRU) offers a new International Program in Hospitality Management with the highlights, including a joint Thai and European degree, Problem and Case Based Learning system, and Grand Tour, a training opportunity in 3 campuses of CHN worldwide.
Dr. Seree Wangpaijit, Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality Management, Rangsit University, and the former governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand as one of the Executive Board of CHN Rangsit University, said that CHN Rangsit University Thailand, an equal partnership between Rangsit University, one of the top private universities in Thailand, and CHN University Netherlands, offers a Bachelor Degree in BBA (International) Hospitality Management.
Dr. Seree also revealed that hospitality institutions will experience growth in the near future as Thailand is expected to welcome 20 millions of international tourists and 100 millions if includes Thai tourists in 2008, therefore, human resources in the hospitality field is extremely necessary.
However, CHN Rangsit University Thailand has realized that graduates need to be equipped with leadership qualification, therefore, we apply and mix Problem and Case Based Learning system to our existing basic course to instruct students how to deal with urgent matters as well as educate them the excellent Thai hospitality, with this, graduates will able to fill in the managerial level positions in hospitality industries across the world.
The International Programme in Hospitality Management at CHN Rangsit University Thailand is now opened. Applicants must be high school graduates, with the TOEFL scores of more than 550 or with 6.0 in IELTS. Students who do not pass the above requirements can take the English Language Foundation Course of the CHN Rangsit University Thailand. Ms. Helma De Veld, Quality Manager of CHN University Netherlands revealed that this joint program is based on the concept of Problem and Case Based Learning (PBL & CBL), which allows students to be more active as they have to deal with urgent matters. This method proves to be suitable for Thai students. The research shows that the performance of students in their second year improves greatly than in their first year.
The educational programmes of CRU are divided into 2 stages as followed:
Foundation Phase — In their first year, the focus is on service management in general and hospitality service management in particular. Within this phase, attention is focused on the operational aspects of the hospitality industry.
Post — Foundation Phase — This stage places concerns on the administration process as well as strategic management, with Problem and Case Based Learning system taught in English language as fundamental.

“The establishment of CHN Rangsit University Thailand is not the first cooperative programme between the two universities as both have joined in the student exchange programme for several years. Students who participated in such programme have already had the chance to learn the curriculum as well as the culture of each other,” Ms. Helma said.
Nathalie Cheu — Choi, student of CHN University Netherlands, who is now taking an internship as a trainee in the Sheraton Grand Sukumvit Hotel, said, “CHN has the multicultural atmosphere. CHN University Netherlands, and Rangsit University began their academic cooperation through study trip since 2000. The compatible visions and the promising relationship between both came the initiation to establish a Joint Degree in International Programme in Hospitality Management.
Dr. Arthit Ourairat, the founding president of Rangsit University also saw the bright future of the programme. At the end of 2001, the Boards of both parties agreed in the foundation of the programme and the starting period to be in 2006.
CHN University Netherlands has joined hands with Rangsit University in order to establish CHN Rangsit University to become the best school of Hospitality Management in the country.
