“Derivatives Fun Fair” held at the “Thai Investors Day” was well-received, with more than 4,000 investors participating in the event, and crowded seminar rooms throughout the day, while more than a thousand people opened new accounts for derivative trading during the fair.
On March 4-5, Thailand Futures Exchange Pcl. (TFEX) held the “Derivatives Fun Fair”, to educate investors on derivatives products by utilizing an entertaining approach. The event focused on unveiling the features and trading procedures of the SET50 Index Futures.
TFEX’s MD, Mrs. Kesara Manchusree, announced that “she was pleased to see such a large number of investors showing interest in derivatives trading. Many investors also attended the numerous relevant seminars offered at various times. During the event, visitors acquired information on the derivatives market from brokers whose booths were set up at the fair, in order to better prepare themselves for trading. This is a good sign that shows us the enthusiasm of the investors as derivative trading nears.”
Apart from the seminars, which drew in more than 1,500 attendees, most investors were also interested in the trading simulation, called the “Futures Simulation Game”. Participants were attracted to the game because they were allowed to make trading orders by themselves, an action they said could help them become more familiar with the real trading situation. Meanwhile, brokers agreed the event was a big success, as a good number of investors had expressed their interest in derivatives. And after this event, all brokers will carry out more activities to attract investors to this market before trading commences on April 28.
And for those who missed the fair, TFEX will continue to hold more roadshows to create a better understanding by the general public about the SET50 Index Futures, both in and outside of Bangkok. The next roadshow is scheduled for March 8 in Bangkok, followed by one to Hat Yai on March 11 and then Khon Kaen on March 19. To reserve a seat, please contact the SET Call Center at 0-2229 2222.
