Shell is making a big move in the diesel market with the launch of New Shell Diesel, which provides extra protection at no extra cost. With New Shell Diesel, Shell aims to increase sales volume by 10% and raise its market share in the diesel segment to 16%, gearing up to become the leader of Thailand’s diesel market.
Khun Tiraphot Vajrabhaya - Chairman of Shell Thailand said, “Following last year’s successful sales of Shell Gasohol 95, Shell is starting off the new year with the introduction of New Shell Diesel to replace the previous formulation of Shell Diesel. We believe that New Shell Diesel will help expand our customer base, as the new diesel product offers a higher level of performance with specially formulated Shell cleansing agents to better clean fuel injectors. New Shell Diesel provides excellent protection to vital diesel engine parts such as rotary fuel pumps and fuel injectors, by preventing these from rusting and fouling up, and maintains engine combustion efficiency by working to prevent deposits from building up. New Shell Diesel is suitable for all types of diesel vehicles. Moreover, it will be available at the same price as existing Shell Diesel.”
Speaking about the marketing plan for the product, Khun Supan Sutthisarn — Shell Thailand’s General Manager for Retail stated, “New Shell Diesel is now available at 600 Shell service stations nationwide. 40 million baht is earmarked for a series of sales promotional activities to ensure more access to target customers. With the “Extra Protection at no Extra Cost” feature, which is the strength of the product, supported by proactive marketing strategies, we are confident that New Shell Diesel can increase our diesel volume by 10% by the end of this year. This would, consequently, result in the expansion of our share to 16% of the overall diesel market.”
Khun Supan further elaborated on the development of New Shell Diesel that “Recent studies indicate that consumers regard their automobiles as ‘loved ones’ and they need quality petrol that protects their ‘beloved’ vehicles. New Shell Diesel is the culmination of intensive research and development for diesel-powered vehicles of various brands with a combined distance of 700,000 km. on diverse road conditions over 6 months. It is effective in delivering enhanced protection of diesel engine parts, offering rust prevention that facilitates improved engine performance. It has also been proven to help reduce foaming during oil fill-up. Shell is confident that New Shell Diesel will be accepted by consumers as a highly trusted fuel that can better protect their beloved vehicles.”
