Barbie, the world’s famous doll brand, today announces to join Thailand’s fashion bags and cosmetics market with the launch of fashionable Barbie Bag and Barbie Cosmetic collections.
Kids & Teens Co Ltd, which has got the exclusive distribution license for Barbie Bag and Barbie Cosmetic collections from Mattel Inc of the USA, will shake up the Thai market with aggressive marketing plan to be kicked off to successfully promote its Barbie Bag and Cosmetic collections. “Barbie Urban Generation” fashion catwalk will be held for the first time to celebrate the introduction of Barbie bags and Barbie cosmetics in Thailand. Moreover, one of the only six special Barbie bags being made in the world will be displayed to celebrate the launch event in Thailand too. The completed line up of Barbie Bag and Barbie Cosmetic collections have been put on shelves from the beginning of this year. The company expects to launch Barbie Bags and Barbie Cosmetics at 40 leading department stores and other retail outlets by the end of 2006.
Ms. Sherene Thanaphathanawiboon, general manager of Kids & Teens Co Ltd, says that the company will broaden its target customers by focusing on teenagers and working women, who are expected to show their great acceptance and interest to the Barbie products. Compared to other fashion brands, Barbie can better represent beautiful women, who are trendy and enjoy outstanding character all the times. Today teenagers love to dress and make-up themselves along with the trend of fashion.
She says that the company would like to expand target customers of Barbie products from teenagers to working women. These groups of customers, ages between 18 and 29, have enjoyed strong spending power. The latest Spring and Summer Collections of Barbie Bags being launched today include “Urban Glitter Collection, Urban Girly Collection, My Special Things, Upbeat Generation, Upbeat Chic! Collection, Fiesta Tropical and Summer Bags-California Girls. And the most special of this launching event of the Barbie Bag collections is the display of one of the only six special Barbie bags being produced in the world. One of them has been bought by the Taiwanese, and for this special occasion, the bag will be presented to special guest Khun Romani Thearaprasit.
For the group of Barbie cosmetics, Kids & Teens will introduce about 12 different cosmetic products covering over 60 SKU altogether at the beginning, including facial cleansing foam, lipstick, facial nourishing products, facial powder, mascara, brush-on, and eyes shadow etc. All Barbie cosmetics will be divided into three major groups, which are trendy and fashionable make-up products such as lipstick, solid facial powder, brush-on, and colourful eyes shadow; skin-care products including skin-care cream, moisturizer, and facial foam; and personal-care products, which are shampoo, shower gel, and powder.
In the part of distribution channels, Kids & Teens plans to distribute Barbie Bags and Cosmetics through leading shopping department stores, including Siam Paragon, The Emporium, The Mall, Robinson, Watsons, and Tang Hug Seng. Forty shopping outlets for Barbie Bags and Barbie Cosmetics have been targeted by the end of this year. The company has allocated 3 million baht investment budget to advertise Barbie Bags and Barbie Cosmetics at leading magazines, which will run together with continuous sales promotion events including point plus campaign to its members in exchange with gift sets and the right to join Barbie Workshop programme, which will be held regularly, as well as the right to buy products at special prices. Interested people can apply the member free of charge at Barbie Cosmetics counters in Siam Paragon, The Emporium, and The Mall Shopping Complexes.
Sherene says that the company will evaluate sales and feedbacks of the Thai consumers to set up its business direction. Many latest versions of Barbie products will be launched to encourage sales.
