Facts about Songkran Festival in Thailand
Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year celebration held during the 13 - 15 April each year. It is a time for giving thanks and asks for blessings by giving alms and making merit. You can participate by releasing caged birds and fish back to nature. Young Thais pay respect and receive blessings by pouring scented water on their elder’s palms. People gather in the streets of the towns all over Thailand to splash water on one another and get relief from the season’s heat.
