Polyplex Thailand Public Company Limited or PTL is confident that the country’s situation despite the currently unfavorable political factor that slows down the economy will not affect the company’s performance because of existing variety in the existing customer network. Demand remains strong with increase in orders, while fuel expense will decline by 25% in the next 6-9 months following the switch of fuel from oil to gas.
Several parties have expressed their concerns over the poor economy saying that it could generate negative repercussions to companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).
Manish Gupta, Director and General Manager (Commercial) of Polyplex Thailand Public Company Limited or PTL, largest manufacturer of PET film in Thailand and the world said the current political instability created almost no impact to the company’s performance. “The slow-down economy does not affect the company either since most of the customers operate within the industries that enjoy high growth rate. Demand for packaging continues to increase constantly proving the variety in the line up of clients both domestic and international. This will strengthen the confidence that demand of the products will continue to prevail,” he said.
“A number of customers have been in business with us for a long time because they are confident in the quality of our products, which has persistently increased in several countries including the United States, Japan, Korea and New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam etc,” he said.
Apart from higher purchasing orders, the company also revamped the production capabilities, while reducing costs in many ways such as reducing the energy and general expenses — switching from oil to gas. Within 6-9 months, the cost of energy is expected to decline by 25%.
“The company’s production of PET film in Turkey will create so much impact on its performance in the future. The production capacity will reach 80% within the next 9 months from currently running at 50%-60%. In addition, the production of metallizer film in Turkey will help create added value,” he added. “Our production facilities have put strong emphasis on quality, The highly sensitive cameras used in detecting low quality products have provided further confidence to quality, especially for countries with strict requirements such as Japan and Korea, where we have enjoyed quite a number of clients,” he concluded.
