Bangkok--27 Mar--SET
The Market for Alternative Investments (mai), a subsidiary of The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), revealed that mai had signed an agreement with Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) to collaborate in promoting Thai design and products, mai President Mr Chanitr Charnchainarong revealed on 24 March 2006. Such projects help Thailand compete successfully in world markets by providing cooperation between the private sector, SME entrepreneurs, artisans, and various government offices.
mai, the market for the “new generation”, intends to help potential entrepreneurs access sources of capital to further expand their businesses and will focus on any knowledge-based business, including design, creativity, and even technology.
“mai has a THB10 million budget for the project, and will be working with TCDC through promoting design-derived value-added products and services”, said Mr Chanitr.
This collaboration makes it easier for the public to access knowledge on creative design and gain the inspiration to create new things, while admiring the experiences and success enjoyed by designers from all over the world. This project will also promote the work of local designers, both in Thailand and overseas.
M.R. Pandit Diskul, Deputy Director of TCDC, said that the center holds activities and provides services to promote design knowledge and encourage Thais to be more creative. TCDC holds exhibitions from abroad, special lectures by world-renown specialists, workshops, and boasts a library with more than 15,000 books dedicated to design.
M.R. Pandit added that financial support received from mai is highly beneficial for the operation of the center, and will not only be invested in developing current projects, but also to introduce new activities that will benefit the concept of a knowledge-based society, especially in the art of design. TCDC will continue to provide support for new-generation designers so that they can enhance their design knowledge through innovation exhibitions, special presentations by world-class designers, and a varied training program.
TCDC also allows entrepreneurs, students, and the public who are members of Maruey Knowledge & Resource Center to use the TCDC library for research purposes and plans to give 50 of its membership cards to mai and SET’s Maruey Knowledge & Resource Center.
