Bangkok--31 Mar--Francom Asia
alibaba.com founder and CEO Jack Ma talks to Lorraine Hahn in Beijing for this weekend’s edition of TALK ASIA. This interview is part of CNN’s EYE ON CHINA week of programming.
With no formal training in English, business or e-commerce Jack Ma tells Hahn he gets his inspiration from kung-fu books. “If you want to be a first class kung fu player, you have to suffer a lot, you have to practice, you have to learn, you have to be good people, you have to have the spirit of never giving up, the fighting spirit, keep on doing,” he says.
Now Ma uses his language skills every day and has realised his business advantage over overseas competitors in China.
“…English helps me a lot. It helps me understand the world better and helps me to meet the best CEOs and leaders in the world. And then also, because I know English, I know how poorly those American business people know China,” he says.
To encourage China’s young generation to pursue their dreams, Ma would like to teach and share his experiences with young people and “tell them hey, if I can be successful, you can!”
