This one-day course is designed to provide a brief, practical introduction to Software Process Improvement (SPI). The course first establishes the motivation for SPI and then moves on to “nuts and bolts” discussion of how SPI is achieved.
The central philosophy of the course is that the process capability levels of SPI frameworks such as the CMMI or SPICE are simply steps along the road to continuous process improvement, rather than the end-goal of SPI.
The course concludes with a discussion of how to apply continuous improvement to software processes and identifies the initial steps that interested organisations need to take.
