Chairwoman of Capital Market Opportunity Center Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai disclosed that The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), in conjunction with Money & Banking Magazine, would host “Money Expo 2006” from May 11 to 14, 2006, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, from 10:00 — 20:00 hours daily.
SET and its subsidiaries will present their services and activities under the theme, “Empowering your investment with stocks, unit trusts, bonds, and derivatives.” The theme is a continuation of two previous events the organization presented, “Thai capital market in its 30th year of providing a full range of investment choices” and “Investment lifestyle”.
“This year’s theme focuses on our services in providing a full range of alternatives, hence empowering people’s savings with choices suited to their needs. It also marks an important development in the Thai market to where there are a wide array of alternatives to traditional bank savings,” Ms. Sopawadee said.
At Money Expo 2006, SET, Market for Alternative Investment (mai), Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX), Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX), and Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand (AFET) will present their products and services in Hall A, the Ballroom, and Meeting Rooms 1 to 4. At the TFEX booth, there will be a simulation in which visitors can experience trading SET50 Index Futures.
Other interesting showcases include the project, “Putting your money to work through mutual funds” (under the collaboration of asset management companies and SET), Thailand Securities Institute (TSI), SETTRADE.Com Co., Ltd., Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd. (TSD), Money Channel, and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Ms. Sopawadee added that: “Seminars are provided free throughout the four-day event with numerous interesting sessions for people to attend, whether they are just getting interested, novices, or quite knowledgeable. For example, seminar topics for new investors include ’New Start, Smart Profit’ and ’Strategies for New Investors’, while more comprehensive topics include “All about Stocks” and “Investment Choices”.
People interested in mutual funds are encouraged to attend “Investing Smart in LTFs and RMFs”, “Investing in Times of Oil Price Hikes”, and “Profit-Making Made Easy”. Booklets entitled “RMF-LTF: Tax-Saving Twins” and “Jotting for Future Rich” will be given away to every seminar participant.
Besides seminars, experts from SET, mai, BEX, TFEX, and other related organizations will provide information and advice. For Internet trading, SETTRADE.Com will be demonstrating stock and derivatives trading through the Internet.
As in the previous year, TSD will set up its TSD Counter Service at the fair, where e-Dividend as well as other services can be applied for on-site.
“Another highlight of the SET activities is a 30% discount on SET publications and with a charity donation of only THB 40, visitors will get a free pocket book in return. There are 13 titles from which donors can choose. All proceeds will go to Duang Prateep Foundation, Baan Thep Childcare Center, Kua Darun Foundation, and the Association for Population and Community Development”, the CMOC chairwoman said.
Moreover, annual reports of over 100 listed companies on SET and mai will be provided without charge, either as printed reports or CDs.
