Kimberly-Clark Thailand Ltd., the leading manufacturer and distributor of tissue products in Thailand, will inject 84 million baht (US$2.2 million) to expand its manufacturing base in Thailand. The company will recruit 100 new employees to support the enhanced operations, which aims to leverage production capacity of tissue exports to Australia and New Zealand.
“Because of our superior production capability, performance and human resources, Thailand has been selected as the production base for Kimberly-Clark tissue product exports to Australia and New Zealand. This decision also reflects Thailand’s strong export market potential. To support the plan, the company will install additional machinery at our Samut Prakarn manufacturing plant, with an investment of 84 million baht (US$2.2 million),” said Mr. David Osborn, Managing Director of Kimberly-Clark Thailand Ltd.
This major investment project will boost tissue production capacity at the Samut Prakarn plant by 8,500 tons or 1.6 million cases, valued at 1.5 billion baht (US$40 million) per year. By combining the existing production capacity of the company’s Patumthani and Samut Prakarn plants, the plan will make Thailand one of Kimberly-Clark’s largest manufacturing bases in Southeast Asia.
“We plan to recruit 100 new employees to support the enhanced operations. In addition, driven by our commitment to sustaining natural resources, we will continue to purchase only pulp from suppliers who use the grown wood stocks,
follow legitimate, and responsible environmental practices. The investment project is scheduled to start this month (May) and is expected to finish by mid-2007,” added Mr. Osborn.
“The expansion plan is a proud success for Kimberly-Clark Thailand, which we will celebrate by continually developing and providing high-quality tissue products and innovations to fulfill consumers’ demands both in Thailand and abroad,” concluded Mr. Osborn.
