Bangkok--22 May--Hill & Knowlton
Thousands of Clariant employees and their family members in over 10 countries in the Asia Pacific region including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia will join the “Walk the World” program, aiming to help United Nations World Food Program (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian aid organization, raise enough funds to help fight hunger in Asia.
In Thailand, “Walk the World” will take place at Lumpini Park, Bangkok, on Sunday 21 May, 2006.
Gary Fielding, Regional President of Clariant Asia said: “Clariant’s alliance with WFP towards the fight against child hunger, serves to draw the public’s attention to this situation. I am pleased that Clariant can "give a bit back" to the underprivileged in the region in which we are all living, working and enjoying ourselves. Through our initial sponsorship, we will feed around 5000 children each year. Our employees and their families and friends, act as positive role models by joining the “Walk the World” today.”
There are 300 million children suffering from chronic hunger and 100 million do not attend school. Every five seconds, a child dies from hunger or from diseases caused by hunger. Based on this staggering statistic, Clariant advocates more people and organizations to participate in charity work, joining “Walk the World”, to help children fight against hunger and allow them to resume their education.
