Bangkok--25 May--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Payap University signed an MOU under the University Networking Project to launch a ‘SET Corner’ at Sirindhorn Learning Resource Center, to provide financial and investment information to academic institutions and local residents in the North.
The Corners operate like branches of SET’s library, providing financial and investment information and the SETSmart (“SET Market Analysis and Reporting Tool”) system, providing access to an extensive database on listed companies and market information.
SET President Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong said that SET supports cooperation with leading universities nationwide to promote greater understanding of finance and investment. Consistent with this policy, Payap University becomes the 13th university with which SET has signed an MOU.
“We are collaborating in the promotion of financial literacy, and, to this end, are making available a number of interesting programs, e.g., “Making Sense of Money”, “Investing in Stocks”, “Investing in Bonds”, “Investing in Mutual Funds” and “Derivatives Fundamentals”. In addition, further education via e-learning is accessible at www.tsi-thailand.org ,” said Mr. Kittiratt.
“Payap University is a center of academic extension and excellence. Working with SET helps us employ academic achievements and resources in building an investment culture, an essential prerequisite for sustainable economic development,” said Dr. Boonthong Poocharoen, President of Payap University.
SET will launch a SET Corner at Payap University’s Sirindhorn Learning Resource Center on October 5, 2006. Since 2004, the Exchange has established 70 SET Corners in academic institutions throughout the country.
