Bangkok--25 May--Core & Peak
Trend Micro Incorporated, (TSE: 4704, NASDAQ: TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and content security software and services, today announced the latest version of Trend Micro ServerProtect? for Linux 2.5. The highly scalable solution provides real-time protection for internal and external endpoints, helping companies prevent the spread of malware through Linux web-servers and file-servers, thereby assisting compliance with corporate antivirus and security policies.
According to Trend Micro TrendLabsSM research, while there are less known malware in the wild that target Linux systems specifically, a file-server could potentially store an infected Microsoft-Windows executable file. This poses little threat to the Linux system on which it is stored; however, the system could potentially be used as a centre of distribution from where the malicious code may be downloaded to, or by a Windows system, subsequently threatening infection, damage and further propagation.
ServerProtect was the first server-based antivirus solution brought to market. In February 2006 Linux-World magazine readers awarded it Best Linux Security Software. It has also achieved the VirusBulletin VB100% award for four consecutive years. Additionally, the solution has achieved certification from organisations including Redhat, Novell and IBM.
ServerProtect provides administrators the ability to maintain security levels through remote deployment, central management and central updates to their solution via a web-based interface. It is a key component in the Trend Micro Enterprise Protection Strategy, a comprehensive, multi-layered solution framework that protects against known and unknown threats. Integrated with Trend Micro Control Manager?, it offers IT administrator’s easy management and tools for central reporting. Additionally, ServerProtect offers the first support for Trend Micro Outbreak Prevention Services on Linux.
“Enterprise organisations have an increasing focus to lower the total-cost-of-ownership of security solutions and to improve employee productivity. At the same time, organisations need to ensure compliance with security policies” said Max Cheng, executive vice president and general manager of Trend Micro’s enterprise business. “ServerProtect for Linux helps solve these challenges, protecting end-points, helping organisations to prevent malicious outbreaks from occurring and supporting the requirement for policy compliance.
