Inbound roamers can earn frequent flyer miles and points by using the True Move network
True Move, part of True Corporation Plc, Thailand's only fully-integrated communication solutions provider, today announced that it has become the exclusive Thai mobile network partner for Travelling Connect, a service that allows its members to earn mileage points when they roam on international mobile phone networks. Starting June 1st, inbound travellers who register with Travelling Connect simply select True Move mobile network while they are in Thailand to earn rewards for every minute they spend on the network.
Netherlands-based Travelling Connect forms international partnerships with major airlines and hotels that have customer loyalty reward programs and mobile network operators in key destinations around the world. Members of these loyalty reward programs register once with Travelling Connect. They then earn miles or points every time they make calls abroad by manually selecting the networks of Travelling Connect's mobile partners such as True Move.
Customers of loyalty reward programs offered by leading airlines such as Air France/KLM, Alitalia, SN Brussels, Malaysia Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines and, most recently, members of Thai Airways' "Royal Orchid Plus" program, can earn frequent flyer miles for the calls they make when roaming in Thailand on True Move's nationwide network. In addition, Travelling Connect's partnership includes reward programs from major hotel chains such as Hilton and Marriott.
According to Mr. Songtham Phianpattanawit, Managing Director, Corporate Solution, Wholesales & Data for True Corporation Plc., "The Travelling Connect partnership builds upon the momentum gained through True Move's sponsorship of BARG #67, a meeting of the GSM Association's Billing, Accounting and Roaming Group that took place in Bangkok in March 2006. "BARG#67 was a great opportunity to show off True Move's capabilities to GSM operators from around the world. With the Travelling Connect partnership, True Move greatly extends our leadership in international roaming innovations for both inbound travelers and our own customers."
Mr. Marcel Wientjen, Managing Director of Travelling Connect said "True Move is the only Thai mobile operator chosen to be part of this consortium comprising some of the world's leading travel organizations and brands. Their next generation network provides high-quality coverage throughout Thailand as well as connectivity options from basic GSM up to Wi-Fi. Our partnership with True Move expands Travelling Connect's presence to one of the key tourist and business
destinations in Southeast Asia."
"This partnership with Travelling Connect is another step by True Move to establish itself as Thailand's premium operator for inbound travellers who want to roam on a GSM network," said Mr. Supoj Mahapan, Head of International Roaming & Gateway for True Move. "It links us to several leading hotel chains and international airlines, which is important as Thailand is such a popular tourist destination and a growing business hub. Under our 'Beyond 3G' concept, True Move has the only network that can meet the needs of international roamers by offering seamlessly integrated GSM, GPRS, EDGE and Wi-Fi services, plus the capacity to handle their calls any time of the day."
Members registered with Travelling Connect can earn miles when making calls in Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Indonesia. Today's announcement adds Thailand to Travelling Connect's participating destinations. Rapidly expanding its Asian presence, Travelling Connect expects to close additional agreements with mobile operators in the region over the next six months, further increasing the footprint of countries where its members can earn frequent flyer miles.
