Amari Hotels and Resorts has upgraded hospitality services with cutting-edge technology from Cisco Systems, providing wireless Internet access in guest rooms, meeting rooms and public areas.
Mr. Kurt Rufi, Managing Director of Amari Hotels and Resorts announced that Amari has upgraded its Internet services by deploying advanced technology from Cisco Systems, as part of its commitment to improving the Thai hospitality industry. The new deployments will provide wireless Internet connections in guest rooms, meeting rooms and public spaces.
“We explored a range of offerings from several vendors before deciding to use Cisco’s wireless networking products. The main reasons behind this decision include Cisco’s reputations, as well as performance, flexibility and reliability of the products. As customer satisfaction is our priority, we have opted to use best-of-the-breed facilities, and that’s why we rely on Cisco.”
Cisco has started the first wireless deployments at Amari Watergate Hotel, Bangkok. So far, access points have been installed in public areas on eight floors, along with some exclusive areas, such as executive rooms and business corners on 6-7 floors. The deployments for the whole building are to be completed by the end of May 2006, and will deliver wireless connections anytime anywhere.
“Security is another major concern for us. And Cisco’s networking products incorporate strong security functions. For example, users on the same wireless network should not be able to see each other. Otherwise, hackers may easily access other machines for malicious purposes.”
While Amari has invested heavily in wired and wireless networking infrastructure to provide high-speed Internet services to its guests, the return-on-investment (ROI) is at a satisfactory level, even though Internet access in public areas, such as lobby and exclusive lounge, is free.
“We have gained quick ROI, although we did not expect it so early. Enterprises increasingly use our services, as corporate users, especially from other countries, require wireless LAN to get connected at all times. Actually, IT investments are meant to increase business opportunities, rather than direct ROI.”
Mr. Vorkon Patra-Yanan, Regional Managing Director Indochina, Cisco Systems said, “We are excited to collaborate with Amari Hotels and Resorts to upgrade their IT infrastructure and deliver wireless services to their guests from all over the world. The new technology deployments will enable the guests to conduct their business more easily, rapidly and securely.”
