Bangkok--5 Jun--OutCome PR In a post-9/11 world, how do you prepare for the unthinkable? Is it possible to stop a coordinated radioactive-weapons attack by determined terrorists in an international city? And what, if anything, should the public be told about such a threat?Blending drama and documentary techniques, the HBO Original Movie DIRTY WAR is a gritty and gripping fictional 90-minute drama based on actual research on the U.K.’s extensive preparations by disaster relief planners, government leaders and emergency-service providers in the wake of 9/11 and the Madrid train bombings. DIRTY WAR portrays a fictional account of a terrorist attack using a radioactive ‘dirty’ bomb in London and focuses on the experiences of a fireman, two anti-terrorist squad police officers, an Islamic undercover detective and several high-ranking terrorism experts and the terrorists themselves. Warned by a number of sources that both terrorists and materials used for radioactive weapons have entered Britain, members of Scotland Yard — including an undercover detective and several high ranking terrorism experts — do their best to identify and apprehend the perpetrators before a dirty bomb is constructed and detonated. Unfortunately, all efforts fail as a dirty bomb is detonated in the heart of London’s financial district. The emergency services are put to an immediate and painfully pressing test. The population in general are completely unprepared and are unable to understand or obey anti-contamination and quarantine orders. DIRTY WAR researchers spent 14 months gathering information to present the film in the most realistic way possible. Anti-terrorism personnel, emergency planners, government representatives, and chemical / biological / radiation experts were all approached for background information and were also on hand during rehearsals and actual filming to ensure scene realism. Directed by Daniel Percival and starring Louise Delamere as Liz Corrigan, William El-Gardi, Alastair Galbraith, Koel Purie and Martin Savage, DIRTY WAR premieres on HBO this 6 June 2006 at 8pm.
