HP’s new consumer notebooks reflect consumers’ personal design preferences in its new identity
HP today unveiled a brand new industrial design for its consumer notebooks. HP’s new notebooks — the HP Pavilion dv2000 series Entertainment Notebook PC and Compaq Presario V3000 series Notebook PC — feature a new, innovative industrial design which redefines the mobile computing experience. Combining a bold, modern design with unique, sensorial touch technology, the new notebooks allow consumers to better enjoy digital entertainment and get more done on the go for a rewarding experience.
According to Mr. Prasert Charoonpaisal, General Manager of Imaging & Printing Group and Consumer Segment, Hewlett Packard (Thailand) Ltd., HP has been successfully being a leader in wide range of notebook segments including Mobile Office, Mobile Performance, and Mobile Entertainment. Recently, HP has introduced the newly design notebook under the concept ‘Fashtronica’. Both HP Pavilion dv2000 and Compaq Presario V3000 are a perfect blend of fashion and advanced technology. These new notebooks aim to catch up with users who are passionate for design and uniqueness.
The robust finish of the new notebooks, known as HP Imprint, was developed through an exclusive partnership with Nissha, a Japanese design manufacturing firm, using in mold technology. HP is the first PC manufacturer to apply the advanced in-mold lamination, traditionally used in luxury car interiors, on notebooks — first offered on select business notebook components introduced last year. With these consumer notebooks, HP has become the first manufacturer to apply the molding procedure to an entire notebook. HP Imprint is characterized by a refined, high-gloss coating with a unique in-laid motif and a scratch-resistant finish. The advanced in-mold laminating technology provides the new consumer notebooks with greater durability than notebooks with paint process exteriors.
Explaining the inspiration behind HP Imprint, Mr. Pavin Vorapruck, Marketing Development Manager of Notebook, Hewlett-Packard (Thailand) Ltd., said, “With imagination, the subtle wave pattern of the HP Pavilion dv2000 series Entertainment Notebook PC conjures a gamut of personal references, such as a Japanese Zen garden, the ocean’s waves or sound waves. The other design, the digi-code imprint, featured on the Compaq Presario V3000 series Notebook PC, has a modern and minimalist feel which suits the fast-paced and productivity-driven lifestyle of a Compaq Presario consumer.
“As a leader in industrial design, HP is committed to understanding consumer personal design preferences,” continued Mr. Pavin “In developing this new look, our HP product specialists and designers conducted research across three continents in an effort to understand what shapes consumer preferences. In addition to the consumer audit conducted, we also scrutinized a number of trend sources ranging from fashion to modern furniture. We found that consumers gravitated towards both the high-gloss finish and patterned inlay designs.”
Beyond the new look, the new industrial design includes elements which truly appeal to one’s senses, redefining the way consumers interact with their notebook PCs. Featuring “capacitive” touch technology, consumers can easily activate media applications in a single touch via the “capacitive buttons”3. The capacitive buttons are positioned on a backlit panel which bears semblance to a lit runway. The capacitive buttons operate the HP QuickPlay on the HP Pavilion dv2000 series Entertainment Notebook PC with just a touch or graze of a finger, enabling users to launch music, photo and video files. On the Compaq Presario V3000 series Notebook PC, the Compaq DVDPlay easily launches DVDs. The capacitive buttons on both notebooks also provide users easy control of volume and mute functions.
Complementing the sleek and sensorial experience of the new industrial design, the new HP notebooks feature a latch-free design which allows consumers to open the notebook in a single, smooth action. The new HP Pavilion dv2000 series Entertainment Notebook PC and Compaq Presario V3000 series Notebook PC are Microsoft Vista Capable4. Both notebooks are also equipped with the latest dual-core mobile processors from Intel, so consumers could enjoy the best in mobile computing technology.
“The bottom line is that HP recognizes that technology is intertwined in the modern consumer’s life,“ said Mr. Pavin “We believe that our new notebooks, sporting the new identity with touch features and built with the best in mobile technology, blend perfectly into consumers’ lifestyles, allowing them to enjoy experiences which are personal to them, through our complementary technology.”
