Bangkok--14 Jun--SET
The monthly “mai Jazz Listening Party” is occurring between June and October this year. It is the Market for Alternative Investment’s (mai) latest foray into raising its capital market profile, and attracting the interest of a new generation of investors. mai is collaborating with GM Multimedia Plc., Hitman Co., Ltd., Universal Music (Thailand), KPN Music Room Co., Ltd., and KPN Music Academy to arrange a series of ‘edutainment’ (“education + entertainment”) events, using jazz to reach a new generation. These live events will also provide a showcase for local, bright, young jazz musicians. “mai is proud to be playing the central role in this mutually beneficial project”, Mr. Vichate Tantiwanich, Chairman of mai Advisory Committee, said.
GM 2000 will provide the knowledge, expertise, insights and technology to maximize the pleasure of jazz listening for this varied group, Mr. Pipat Caca-naat, Executive Editor of GM 2000 Magazine, declared.
“As partners in this event, and with a lot of experience in marketing musicians and records, we look forward to exposing people to the work of lesser known quality artists, as well as the popular icons and classic trend-setters,” Mr. Vichart Jiratiyut, Managing Director of Hitman Co., Ltd., and Mr. Nadda Buranasiri, Managing Director of Universal Music (Thailand), noted.
“Jazz music is, by nature, an integrative art, aspects of which can be transferred to business management. For example, when team members are familiar with a song’s rhythm, they synchronize with their partners, contributing to the overall harmony of the music. Similarly, for business success, this same synchronicity is required. mai is to be congratulated for bringing together influential players in the music industry, and providing opportunities for artists to display their talents to a live audience,” Mr. Tannapat Mathayomchand, Managing Director of KPN Music Room, stated.
Each mai Jazz Listening Party will have 2 sessions — the listening party and live performances. The first part introduces people to a variety of jazz recordings, which the audience then votes on. The most popular pieces will be collated to form the mai Recommended Chart, which will be distributed to the media, and be converted into an album for distribution at the year’s final event.
During the first session, jazz “gurus” will inform and educate the audience about the history and background of songs, compositions, artists and different jazz genres. The second session will present a broad array of rising stars giving live performances and sharing their stories about jazz. The artists will include youth from musical institutions, local musicians, scholars and professors of jazz music.
Simultaneously, children can attend The Kids Music Experience and be introduced to jazz, motivating them to learn more and develop their musical talent.
The monthly mai Jazz Listening Party will be held from 14:00 hours to 17:30 hours at Professor Sangvien Intaravichai Auditorium, 3rd floor, The Stock Exchange of Thailand Building. You can make inquiries or reserve seating at www.mai.or.th or tel: 02 — 229 — 2007.
