The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) today handed over the Sermpunya Library to the Thai Library Association (TLA), to serve the 20,000 residents of Klongchan sub-district, Bangkok and surrounds.
SET and TLA, the latter being under HRH Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s royal patronage, jointly developed the Library to celebrate her 50th birthday as a model community library and learning center, similar to the Exchange’s Maruey Knowledge and Resource Center, SET President Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai stated.
At the opening, the Exchange donated a SET Corner equipped with publications and electronic media worth THB 230,000, and 9,000 books previously given to its “Giving Books to Libraries’ project.
The Sermpunya Library SET Corner is the 71st such facility to be established over the past three years. The SETSMART (“SET Market Analysis and Reporting Tool”) system is included, providing access to comprehensive information about listed companies and other relevant matters.
Sermpunya Library received THB 7.5 million from SET’s 30th Anniversary Charity Fund and from a specifically-established budget
Like the Maruey Knowledge and Resource Center, and unlike a traditional library, it provides a broad range of facilities, including a coffee shop, an internet section, a games and entertainment area, and a convenience store.
The library, on Aakarn-songkroh Road, Klong Chan, in Bangkok’s Bangkapi district, is a 4-storey building, covering 400 square meters, and is open every day, from 09:00 - 21:00 hours. For more information please call 0 2736-7838.
