Bangkok--26 Jun--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Sripatum University (SPU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) under the University Networking Project to launch a ‘SET Corner’ at SPU Central Library. The initiative aims to provide financial and investment information to academic institutions and local residents.
Chairman of SET’s Capital Market Education Division Mr. Punsak Vejanurug said that this is part of SET’s nationwide strategy of cooperation with leading universities promoting greater understanding of finance and investment. Consistent with this policy, SPU becomes the 14th university to sign an MOU with SET.
“We are collaborating in the promotion of financial literacy, and so will be holding many activities, including providing e-learning through www.tsi-thailand.org . Gaining a greater knowledge of finance and investment will enhance people’s lives, and establish a foundation for sustainable economic development,” said Mr. Punsak.
“SPU is pleased to collaborate with SET as a center of academic extension and excellence. Working with the Exchange enables us to enrich people’s lives by focusing our academic resources promoting financial literacy among academic institutions and the community,” said Dr. Rutchaneeporn Pookayaporn Phukkamarn, President of SPU.
The ‘SET Corner’ at SPU’s Central Library operates like a branch of SET’s own library, providing financial and investment information, together with the SETSMART (“SET Market Analysis and Reporting Tool”) system, which contains an extensive database on listed companies and market information.
Beginning in 2004, the Exchange has established 72 SET Corners in 13 academic institutions throughout the country.
