Bangkok--28 Jun--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Bangkok University (BU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) under SET’s University Networking program. The initiative aims to create greater understanding on personal finance and investment through a network of leading academic institutions.
“Today’s MOU signing is part of SET’s nationwide strategy of cooperation with leading universities promoting greater understanding of finance and investment. BU becomes the 15th university to join the University Network project,” Chairman of SET’s Capital Market Education Division Mr. Punsak Vejanurug said
“Bangkok University is a well-known academic institution in disseminating knowledge and understanding in personal finance and investment. The SET and Bangkok University will be working together to promote financial literacy among Thais, enhancing the economy’s stability”, he continued.
Mr. Thanu Kulachol, Ph.D., President of Bangkok University said: “This collaboration with the Exchange will help students apply their understanding in personal finance and investments.”
Joint activities under the SET - BU agreement include setting up a SET Corner at BU’s Gluay Nam Tai library on November 16, 2005. This Corner will operate like a branch of SET’s own library, providing financial and investment information, together with the SETSMART (“SET Market Analysis and Reporting Tool”) system, which contains an extensive database on listed companies and market information.
In addition, SET and BU will cooperate on SET’s Dream Library Project to develop the SET corners, providing e-learning through www.tsi-thailand.org , and encouraging BU students to participate in SET’s affiliate programs, e.g., the Money Management Award (MMA) and Young Researcher Competition (YRC).
