AAPICO Hitech PCL today announced strategic partnerships, which will ultimately help to propel the company into a global player. New business ventures have been set up with Mitsuike Corporation Limited and Katsuya International Private Ltd., both from Japan, and Jackspeed Corporation Ltd. from Singapore.
Through a joint venture with Mitsuike Corporation Limited, a new company, AAPICO Mitsuike Co., Ltd., will be formed with AAPICO Hitech holding 51% of a paid up registered capital of Baht 33 million. AAPICO Mitsuike will initially focus on engineering and marketing press parts to Nissan domestically, but plans to later expand with manufacturing facilities. By 2008, Nissan plans to introduce 10 new models in Thailand in order to increase its production to 200,000 units per year. “The teaming up with Mitsuike will enable AAPICO to produce more sophisticated and higher value-added press parts to support Nissan’s global business; thereby, increasing our penetration in Nissan. At present, we have already received orders from Nissan for over 100 parts, which we plan to start producing at the end of this year and early next,” revealed Mr. S. C. Yeap, President & CEO of AAPICO Hitech PCL.
Having taken a 20% shareholding in Singapore-based Jackspeed Corporation Ltd., AAPICO and Jackspeed have now agreed to set up AAPICO Jackspeed Co., Ltd. in Thailand, a 60/40 joint venture with an initial paid up capital of Baht 20 million. This joint venture will initially produce accessories for pickups, which will generate an initial annual revenue of Baht 200 million.
In further broadening its OEM parts product line, AAPICO acquired 51% of Katsuya Thailand to manufacture interior decorative trim using deep printing technology with a paid up capital of Baht 60 million. At the same time, a joint venture company named Katsuya International Private Ltd., in which AAPICO has a 33% equity, has been established to address the global market. As such, Katsuya International has signed an MOU with Motherson, the fastest growing Tier 1 component supplier in India, resulting in AAPICO’s debut into the Indian market.
“Combined with our business partnership with Sojitz, the technical know-how strengths and synergies that Mitsuike, Jackspeed, Katsuya and Motherson bring to AAPICO will enhance our company’s capabilities to become a global auto OEM parts manufacturer and supplier. I firmly believe that these reputable partners will provide us with a solid foundation in ensuring that we achieve our commitment to our shareholders,” commented Mr. Yeap at the press conference today
