Renowned international publisher, McGraw — Hill, together with The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s Maruey Knowledge & Resource Center and Family Know-How, are to launch a reading promotion project, whereby each month seven bestsellers in Thai and English will be available at the ‘Literature and Best Seller Corner’ of Maruey Center. Other activities will feature seminars and face-to —face discussions with authors.
“Included will be McGraw-Hill’s better-known publications, e.g., ’What the Best CEOs Know’ and the Thai-language ‘Heart-winning Strategy’.
“McGraw-Hill is our first partner from the publishing industry this year, and the ninth since the Center began reading promotion. Generous donations of famous books from leading publishing houses, has helped make Maruey Center a favorite place for those who love reading,” SET Capital Market Education Chairman Mr. Punsak Vejanurug stated.
“The company is pleased to collaborate with SET in reading promotion. We hope the Center can use our international experience, and our Thai and English publications, ranging from technology and IT to business and management, to benefit their visitors,” General Manager of Thailand and Indo-China, McGraw-Hill International Enterprise Inc., Mr. Vithit Lim, added.
Given the number of free publications donated, SET plans to give some to educational institutions involved in the University Networking project, and to other libraries across Thailand affiliated with the Exchange. As well as helping SET enable youth and the general public to read more quality books, this endeavor gives McGraw-Hill a very positive public image.
The memorandum of cooperation between Maruey Center, Family Know-How and McGraw-Hill continues SET’s cooperation with publishing houses. Previous partners included Praphasarn, DMG, Nanmee Books, Siam Inter Multimedia, Jam-Sai Publishing, Chulalongkorn University Book Center, Nation Books and Thailand Productivity Institute. SET plans that five more publishers will join the project in 2006.
