Bangkok--13 Jul--SET
To spread personal financial management knowledge and understanding, and contribute to national economic development, The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), under SET’s University Networking project.
“This MOU represents the continuing expansion of SET’s collaboration with universities. It is intended that this university will become a center of financial management information and learning for students, faculty and community members,” SET’s Capital Market Education Division Chairman Mr. Punsak Vejanurug said today.
“SET has been working with DPU since 2005, establishing the SET Corner at its Library and Information Center in March of that year. More recently, their librarians and undergraduate students have won an award from the ‘Dream Library’ project.
“SET is delighted to continue its cooperation with DPU, a leading private university that excels academically and socially,” Mr. Punsak added.
“The university believes in combining academic pursuits with business and society, and will provide any support for this educational endeavor, while acting as a financial and investment education center for students, faculty and the public,” the university’s President, Assoc. Prof. Varakorn Samkoset, declared.
In addition to the SET Corner, the Exchange and the university will provide basic learning about personal financial management and investment, including the “Ngoen-Thong Tong Sai Jai” (“Making Sense of Money”) training program, stock and bond investment, and an introduction to derivatives. They will hold seminars and promote e-learning via www.tsi-thailand.org , while encouraging DPU students to participate in SET activities, such as the Money Management Award and Young Researcher Competition to prepare them for their careers.
